Mt Weld Mining Pty Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of ASX listed Lynas Rare Earths, which is an integrated producer from mine to customer of refined Rare Earth products for global markets.Lynas operates a Mine and Concentration Plant at Mt Weld Western Australia, and a Refinery in Pahang, Malaysia (the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant, LAMP) which produces high purity Rare Earth products. In December 2019, Lynas announced Kalgoorlie, Western Australia has been selected as the location for the new cracking and leaching plant that will upgrade the Lynas Mt Weld rare earth concentrate that is currently exported to the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant in Malaysia.The Mt Weld Mine and Concentrating Plant is located approximately 35kms south of Laverton in the North-Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia. The Mt Weld concentrator has the capacity to process over 300,000 tonnes of high-grade ore per year from an open pit operation, with a mine life of more than 20 years.Lynas makes Rare Earth oxides for the oil & gas, automotive and environmental technologies markets. Lynas is the largest supplier worldwide to the praseodymium-neodymium free market, and the only Rare Earth supplier of scale outside China. The Role:                                                            We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a Senior Mining Engineer (12 month Fixed Term Contract) to join Lynas Rare Earths. The role is responsible for providing mining engineering technical support for Campaign 4 and daily supervision of the mining, crushing and haulage contractors to ensure that the mine functions effectively on a daily basis. Skills and experience required for this role:Relevant Tertiary Qualifications in MiningWestern Australian C-Class Drivers LicenceQuarry Managers, WA First Class Ticket or equivalent10+ years’ experience within similar mining engineering role in open pit mining operationsExperience with surface miners would be highly regardedFamiliar with best practice, safety, environment management processesProactively support the mine planning and scheduling processes and identify constraints and opportunities to meet operational objectivesEnsure the timely and accurate daily reporting of mining performance physicals to management and the wider operations teamSolid experience with planning and mine software packages including Surpac, MPX, Pronto and MS Office toolsProject management experience especially in technology projects and introduction of new mining methods, such as surface minersAbility to work to tight deadlines on multiple tasksOptimising mining efficiencies through use of technical skills and process optimisation projects Key Responsibilities:Utilise systems and processes for daily communication with the geology team to ensure accurate and timely updating for daily mining planCommunicate daily and weekly mining plans to the Technical Services team to ensure the timely and accurate mining of ore by the mining contractorEnsure compliance of contractual and legal agreements with the Mining ContractorUtilise systems and processes to ensure an appropriate transportation plan is developed and implementedCommunicate daily and weekly plans to the Mining Contractor to ensure the safe, timely and efficient operation of plant and the correct grade of ore is loaded within defined proceduresProvide miscellaneous technical and mining engineering support for the department and site management teamAdhere to policies and procedures to ensure that site, corporate, and legislative requirements for the open pit operation are metEnsure the efficient use of in-house processes for identifying, reporting and managing hazards and incidents and proactively take steps to eliminate risk-taking behaviours or actionsCollect and analyse the daily, weekly, and monthly mining physicals. This includes daily and end-of-month reportingCollect information required for daily and monthly production reporting, schedule/design assessment and modificationEnsure data collection is accurate and current for facilitating prompt month end reportingProactively identify opportunities to improve site levels of service, quality, cost, safety, health, environment and community relationsAssist with the identification of the best extraction methods and sequences for production optimisationIdentify opportunities to reduce costs of operation whilst meeting all quality, HSE and delivery standards Are you ready for your next challenge?
