Lynas Rare Earths is growing! As part of our ‘Lynas 2025’ growth plan, we’re building a larger business to meet forecast demand growth in the critical metal industry.Lynas’ rare earth materials are used in many high tech and future facing applications, including electronics, wind turbines and hybrid and electric vehicles. We’re diversifying our industrial footprint with processing facilities in optimal locations. This includes embarking on an expansion in Western Australia. Our Rare Earths deposit in Mt Weld, Western Australia, is acknowledged as one of the highest-grade Rare Earths mine in the world. For this unique ore the concentrator currently applies comminution (grind size P80 20 microns), classification, oxide mineral flotation, and dewatering (thickening and filtration) with mud farming of the Tailings Storage Facility. Lynas is building a Processing facility in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia to process concentrate from the Mt Weld Mine and Concentration Plant. Mt Weld concentrator is looking to expand production to ensure capacity to feed to new Kalgoorlie processing facility.Lynas is looking for a driven Metallurgist to join a small motivated metallurgical team and be part of:Expansion related test work and engineering.Production optimisation projects, including pilot test work programs.Commissioning of new equipment in the concentrator. As a Mt Weld Project Metallurgist, you will be crucial in assisting the Mt Weld Expansion and understanding processing options for future ores. In this role, you will:Demonstrate personal commitment to safety.Refine and de-risk a cost-efficient flowsheet for the expansion of the Mt Weld concentrator.Develop and coordinate internal and external test work programs focused on improving the performance and operating cost of processing future ores.Build geometallurgical knowledge of the Mt Weld orebody, develop metallurgy factors for the Mt Weld Ore Reserve and coordinate testwork programs aimed at increasing the Mt Weld Ore Reserve.Have a high level of attention to detail with planning, analytical and decision-making skills.Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.Qualities we value:Minimum 5 years operational experience in minerals processing, with experience at a plant/project metallurgist level.Previous exposure to operation of concentrators including comminution, flotation and dewatering circuits.Ability to autonomously develop, conduct and interpret metallurgical test work, project supervision and completion/installation, particularly in flotation.Experience in process design, engineering and commissioning would be seen as advantageous, whether brownfields or greenfields projects.Have a tertiary qualification in Metallurgy or equivalentShow initiative, self-motivation, and sound problem solving skills in resolving technically challenging issuesHave a willingness to learn unique oxide mineral flotation and related water chemistry challengesThis is permanent role with Lynas Rare Earths based at Mt Weld Operation. At Lynas Rare Earths, we pride ourselves on offering competitive remuneration packages and offer a family friendly roster of 8 days on 6 days off fly in fly out (FIFO) from Perth. We are committed to ensuring that our workplace is inclusive, where all our people feel that they belong, are valued, and respected. We welcome and encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, the LGBTI+ community, mature workers, as well as candidates with culturally diverse backgrounds.   AUD Perth 6000
