Mine Surveyor - 12 month fixed term contractMt Weld Mining Pty Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of ASX listed Lynas Rare Earths, which is an integrated producer from mine to customer of refined Rare Earth products for global markets.Lynas operates a Mine and Concentration Plant at Mt Weld Western Australia, and a Refinery in Pahang, Malaysia (the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant, LAMP) which produces high purity Rare Earth products. In December 2019, Lynas announced Kalgoorlie, Western Australia has been selected as the location for the new cracking and leaching plant that will upgrade the Lynas Mt Weld rare earth concentrate that is currently exported to the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant in Malaysia.The Mt Weld Mine and Concentrating Plant is located approximately 35kms south of Laverton in the North-Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia. The Mt Weld concentrator has the capacity to process over 300,000 tonnes of high-grade ore per year from an open pit operation, with a mine life of more than 20 years. The process on site comprises crushing and blending then ball milling, followed by multi-stage flotation, thickening, filtration and bagging.Lynas makes Rare Earth oxides for the oil & gas, automotive and environmental technologies markets. Lynas is the largest supplier worldwide to the praseodymium-neodymium free market, and the only Rare Earth supplier of scale outside China. The Role:An opportunity exists for an experienced Mine Surveyor to join Lynas Rare Earths on a 12-month fixed term contract. Reporting to the Senior Mine Surveyor, this position is FIFO from Perth to our Mt Weld Operations on an 8/6 roster due to commence in July 2021. Skills required for this role:Relevant Qualifications - Degree or Diploma/Advanced Diploma of SurveyingProven mine surveying capability 2+ years’ experienceExperience with Topcon GPS equipment or similar (preferred)Experience with Surpac software or similar (preferred)Experience with Pix4d and Global Mapper software (preferred)Experience with UAV surveying (preferred)Valid WA "C" Class Driver’s LicenseA high degree of accountability, accuracy and proven time management skillsExcellent verbal, written and computer skillsProblem solving and analytical skillsEnthusiastic and self-motivatedAbility to multi-taskThe ability to work autonomously as well as part of a high performing teamA strong commitment to safety Key Responsibilities:Carry out surveying in a timely manner to ensure the accurate location of the pit perimeter, the pit wall angles, the ramp position, the terms and any other item related to the mine designSurveying of the waste dump to ensure the waste dump is built according to the designSurveying of the stockpiles on a regular basisUpdating all the plans of the pit layouts and designs, the waste dump and the stockpilesAccurately and efficiently survey and mark the ore blocks onto the ground for each level of miningCarrying out survey pick-ups requested by the mine geology department of the oreInterfacing with other mining personnel to ensure that at all times the ore is mined accuratelyAssist the Geology department to calculate the quantity and grade of ore mined each monthCarry out a survey of each blasting pattern and calculate the volume blastedValidate and record the inputs into the cost of each blastEnsure the end of month survey of the pit is conducted and verify the volume mined from each of the payment levelsKeep records of all the data and surveying used to determine payment to the contractorMeasure and report geotechnical wall prisms for rock mass stabilityMaintain accurate plans of all the mining areas including pits, waste dumps, roads, ramps and stockpiles to meet requirements outlined in the Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994 and Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations 1995 This role is being sourced directly by Lynas Rare Earths and agency referrals will not be accepted.To apply for this role, please submit a current resume and a covering letter detailing your skills and experience via the "apply now" button.All applicants must have the right to work in Australia AUD Perth 6000
