Mt Weld Mining Pty Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lynas Corporation, a company that produces over 20% of the world’s supply of rare earth materials, including key magnetic materials used in wind turbines and the growing electric vehicle sector.The Mt Weld Rare Earths Project is located approximately 35kms south of Laverton in the North-Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia.The Mt Weld concentrator has the capacity to process over 300,000 tonnes of high-grade ore per year from an open pit operation, with a mine life of more than 25 years. The operation has commenced the process of a significant upgrade and this will require a step up in the geology function to meet the new business requirement. Post mining, the steps are crushing and blending then ball milling. Multi-stage flotation, thickening, filtration and bagging is then used to create a rare earth concentrate.  Exported to Lynas Corporation's wholly owned rare earth oxide separation plant based in Kuantan, Malaysia, a number of rare earth products are produced ready for Lynas’ customer base.The Role:An opportunity exists for a Graduate Geologist to join Lynas Corporation now. As part of the technical services team and reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist this role is involved in exploration, resource expansion drilling, grade control drill programs, day to day mine geology and input to the ore reserve for the Mt Weld Rare Earth Operations. This is a permanent, FIFO position from Perth to our Mt Weld Operations Ideally you will have the following qualifications, licenses, and skills:Tertiary degree in GeologyValid WA "C" Class Drivers LicenseAbility to work autonomously as well as part of a high performing teamEffective communication and computing skillsYou will be responsible for:Providing direction to the mining contractor by ore spotting to maintain the correct quality of ore delivered ore to the stockpilesDeveloping a detailed knowledge of the complex ore body to provide input to the geometallurgical model processGaining experience in Surpac Software.Assisting with end of month processes.Assisting with exploration workAssisting with drilling programs for resource developmentPlanning and implement drilling programs for grade controlTracking the ore on the stockpiles and generate regular reports on the quantities and grade of the stockpilesAssisting with the geological and resource modelling for the resource estimation and grade controlProviding geological technical assistance to the Exploration Tenements.Assisting with water explorationEnsuring work activities are undertaken in a safe mannerActively participating in the implementation and use of the site safety systemsAre you ready to kick start your geology career?
