Laboratory Analyst

  Lynas is building a Rare Earths Processing Facility only 5 minutes from Kalgoorlie. Lynas Rare Earths is an established ethical and environmentally responsible producer of rare earth materials and is the world’s only significant producer of separated rare earth materials outside of China. Our Western Australian rare earths mine at Mt Weld, which will supply concentrate to the Kalgoorlie plant, boasts a life of mine of more than 25 years.Our people work in an environment where safety is always the first priority. You will work as part of a smaller team so you can expect to build strong relations with your colleagues.The Opportunity:  We are looking for quality driven and enthusiastic Laboratory analysts who want to be exposed to the exiting world of the rare earths industry. The lanthanides come with their own unique set of dissolution and spectroscopic challenges that presents opportunity for ongoing method development and process improvement. The new Laboratory facility is progressing well with most of the major equipment already on site pending calibration and commissioning. You will have the opportunity to use your knowledge and experience to assist with lab setup, equipment commissioning and validation of methods. After the laboratory commissioning we will provide reliable, accurate and timely analytical data to the plant during plant commissioning and on an ongoing basis.You will be Responsible for:Receiving and registering samples in the LIMS systemPreparing all required laboratory testing reagents, standards and perform standardization of reagents.Conducting routine sample analysis (as per sampling plan) and non-routine sample analysis when required accurately and timely.Calibrating, operating, and maintaining high-end analytical equipment/instruments which includes XRF, IPCOES, ICPMS amongst others.Ensuring that analytical testing results are transferred electronically or entered manually into the LIMS system and authorised.Understanding performance areas within the plant and the impact of results on the plant performance.Assisting the Chief Chemist in the development and improvement of Laboratory procedures and work instructions.Ensuring safety and environmental risks are identified, managed, reported and a safe working environment is maintained.Undertake projects to optimise plant performance About you:Unwavering approach to safety leadershipSelf-starter and able to work independently or in teamsTertiary qualification in ChemistryPrevious experience as a Laboratory Analyst in a mineral’s laboratory  Prior experience in using XRF, ICPOES, ICPMS instruments viewed favourably.Willing to work flexible hours.Benefits include:Stability - Mt Weld Mine has a 20+ year mine lifeAnnual Company Bonus SchemeRemote Housing AllowanceSalary continuance scheme and life insurance (through Superannuation)Continual development and ability to expand your careerSalary Sacrifice options  We welcome and encourage applications from women and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, the LGBTIQA+ community, mature workers, as well as candidates with culturally diverse backgrounds.
